American Pastoral

Based on Philip Roth’s sprawling epic of the same name, American Pastoral marks Ewan McGregor’s directorial debut.

With a great cast the film rides an emotional rollercoaster for players and audiences as it charts the life of a family through turbulent political times from the 1940s to the 1970s.

Seymour “Swede” Levov (McGregor) is a young man that has it all at his feet. His sporting prowess, smarts and charisma lands him a beauty queen Dawn (Connelly). Together they have a daughter Merry (Fanning) who born with a terrible stutter grows up a radical activist opposing the Vietnam war.

As a directorial debut for McGregor this is a tough gig but the film has a great honesty that’s absorbing and looks great on the big screen.
